With seven autobiographies, multiple books of essays and poems, and several awards of recognition we couldn’t think of a better role model to feature on a sock. Maya worked early on to raise funds for Martin Luther King Jr. and others to help fight Jim Crow brutality. She worked closely with Dr.King in the late ’60s until his untimely death.
